George - Alex Gino

George is a book about a little girl who is born in a boys body. She goes through her 4th grade year with bullies and a best friend named Kelly. George's 4th grade play is Charlotte's Web and George wants to play Charlotte the kind spider who saves Wilber the pigs life. The teacher, however, who does not know that George is Trans doesn't understand why George would want to play a girl. George is an amazing book about a girl who doesn't always get chances other girls get. She goes through journeys with her best friend and figures out how to come out to the people in her life. -Viv B

Weekly Update

This is my first weekly update. But, since you barely know anything about me this is going to be a kind of an introduction. I live in Greenwich in New York City. I identify as female. I have two best friends. I go to school. I go to camp. I am an athlete, an artist, an actress, a singer, a writer. My favorite colors are purple, red, and blue. My lucky number is 11. I have a sister, a mom, a dad, a dog, and two cats. I know I sound like an ordinary person but the word ordinary describes no person. -Viv B

Wonder - R.J. Palacio

Wonder - R.J. Palacio “When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind.” - Mr. Tushman. Wonder is an amazing insight into the brain of a child. Auggie is a regular ten year old boy who goes through middle school with craniofacial dysostosis. He faces best friends and bullies. I have to admit -and don’t get mad and stop reading- I have never read wonder but I’ve listened to the audiobook more times than I can count. From those listening's I have realized that this is more than just a book, it is a story. Books can be story’s but some aren’t. To me, a story is something the reader can identify with. A story is an amazing tool to pass down generations. A book is also an amazing tool but not every reader knows how to identify with it. Wonder is a story. -Viv B

Quote of the Day

Just because my path is different doesn’t mean I’m lost. - Gerard Abrams This is my first quote of the day because I consider myself to be a weirdo. So I thought, what could be a better quote for the first than one that represents me? So, this one is for all the weirdo’s out there. -Viv B
